The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers on May 29

On December 11, 2002, the United Nations General Assembly established a new holiday the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. This holiday was celebrated for the first time on May 29, 2003. It is not a public holiday, but is observed all across the globe. The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers pays praise to all the men and women who served and keep on serving in United Nations peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, devotion and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace. This day are organized numerous activities: presentations, meetings and events; memorial services for those who laid down their lives in peace keeping missions; giving peacekeeping award to military and police officers; exhibitions on the work of UN peacekeepers. On May 29 you and your wonderful Russian mail order bride should congratulate and honor people who serves and risk their lives for your safety and peace.
